if you would ask

If you would ask me if I was happier, I could answer you one of two ways.

I could tell you what you want to hear.
I could tell you I was.
I could tell you that you made the right decision.
I could tell you that everything was turning out okay, that everything was better this way.

or

I could tell you the truth.
I could simply tell you, no.
I could tell you I don't think it's working.
It's not working yet, and I don't know if it even will.
